About English National Opera presents Paul Bunyan
Following its sell-out run at Wilton’s Music Hall in 2018, Paul Bunyan will receive its first revival at Alexandra Palace Theatre this May.
ENO will again perform Paul Bunyan, Britten’s retelling of the legend of the eponymous giant. As part of ENO's Studio Live series, we present the immense power of opera in intimate theatre environments while celebrating emerging and established UK talents.
Director Jamie Manton’s five-star production explores dreams, and the nature of civilisation and its impact on the ecology of the world we inhabit.
The production features designs by Camilla Clarke, a winner of the 2015 Linbury Prize for Stage Design, lighting by Marc Rosette, and choreography by Jasmine Ricketts. It will be conducted by ENO’s chorus master, James Henshaw.
ENO Harewood Artists Elgan Llŷr Thomas and Rowan Pierce reprise their roles as Johnny Inkslinger and Tiny respectively, alongside the ENO Chorus.
Olivier Award-winning actor Simon Russell Beale will again provide the offstage recorded voice of the titular giant.
Performed by arrangement with Faber Music Ltd, London
